Phyllis G. Wicker

Phyllis Wicker, 86, a longtime Milroy area resident, went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2015. She was born March 7, 1928 in Terryville, CT to George & Genevieve (Bull) Seibert. Phyllis, and her husband James, had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on January 21. She was a 1946 graduate of Terryville High School. Over her lifetime, Phyllis worked as a floral designer and had worked at Coast to Coast Hardware store. Her first love was being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cookie maker and enjoyed sharing those with others. Phyllis was very active in the Milroy United Methodist Church. Not only did she volunteer wherever needed, but was also a leader. She served as an officer of the United Methodist Women both locally and at the district level, the church turkey suppers, the semi-annual rummage sales and she organized and helped lead a Friendship Club for the senior citizens of the community. Phyllis was also a member of the Milroy Literary Research Club. She enjoyed collecting aprons and giving programs about them. She is survived by her husband, James, of Milroy, a daughter, Sue & husband Mike Lytle of Glenwood, sons, J.D and wife Bec Wicker of Milroy and Mike & wife Carolyn Wicker of Rushville, a sister, Carolyn von Recklinghausen of Hudson, New Hampshire, grandchildren, Alle (Jeremy) Lilly, Ben (Becky) Wicker, Doug Wicker, Jaret (Pam) Wicker & Quinn Wicker, step-grandchildren, Brittany(Justin) Clemons, Brandon, Jessica & Matt Lytle, great grandchildren, Maggie, Evie & Anna Wicker & step-great grandchildren, Dominic Lytle & Krystin & Xander Clemons. Several nieces & nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, February 7, 2015 in the Milroy United Methodist Church. Friends are welcome to visit at the Milroy United Methodist Church from 4-8 PM Friday evening, February 6. Burial will be in the McCarter Cemetery. Pastors Teri Crouse, Bill Jackson & Phil Mitchell will preside. The family would like to acknowledge Janice Huntsman, Angie Bills and her two special caregivers Leslie & Trisha for their loving care. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Milroy United Methodist Church.
