Nancy Louise (Lemen) Walker

Nancy Louise (Lemen) Walker, age 83 of Rushville, IN, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 8, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. She was warm, delightful and full of joy. Nancy had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people laugh without even trying. She had the best warm giggle that could brighten anyone’s day. Kind, loving and endlessly patient, she had a special gift with children and made everyone around her feel seen and cared for. Nancy was passionate about her family and was always fashionable and beautiful, inside and out. Nancy was born May 14, 1942 in Rushville to the late Francis and Jean (Manning) Lemen. She lived in Syracuse, IN for 13 years, where they enjoyed boating and beach time with special friends and family. For many years, she worked at Rushville Elementary School where her kindness, patience and love for children shined brightly. Nancy was a joyful presence with all children, especially her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, students and truly any child lucky enough to cross her path. Nancy was married for 64 years to Jesse Lowell Walker, whom she married on September 1, 1961. Jesse told her “I Love You” every single day. Together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter and cherished memories. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Gary (Becky Truster) Walker; daughter, Gina (Matt Connolly) Brees; grandchildren, Megan (Lee) Cameron, Morgan (Sonder Collins) Walker, Ashley (Tyler) Ragland, Jennifer Brees; great-grandchildren, Connor Frechette, Gavin Morton, Ariella Ragland, Alaȉa Ragland and Clara Cameron; sister, Linda Sheehan and brother, Rick (Mary Beth) Lemen. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Carl Lemen, and brother-in-law, Joseph Sheehan. Services will be held Monday, January 12, 2026 at 1 PM in Moster Mortuary with Pastor Jeff Edwards presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 11 AM until the time of service in the mortuary. Burial will be held in East Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rush Memorial Hospital Sheehan Cancer Center. Nancy’s family is deeply grateful to the staff at Rush Memorial Hospital and to Dr. Daugherty for the phenomenal care, compassion and support they provided to Nancy and her family.
