Virginia F. Johnson

Virginia F. Johnson, age 91, of rural Rush County, passed away August 1, 2020 at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield, Indiana after a month long illness. Marvin, her husband of 71 years, was at her bedside at her passing. She was born at her family home in Orange Township, Rush County in August 1928 to the late Vernon and Hazel (Meal) Hardwick. Virginia’s brother Carl Hardwick, and his wife, Alberta, precedes her in death. Marvin and Virginia made their home in northern Rush County and farmed from 1949-1994. Virginia was employed by Production Credit Association in Rushville from 1969-1985, then worked at the Rush County Auditor’s Office to her retirement in 1996. Virginia was a member of Center Christian Church outside of Mays Indiana, and was active in the Loyal Workers of the church. She was a charter member of the Mixers Homemakers Home Extension Club, and was a member of the Amicitia Club, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. She served her community as a volunteer at Hancock Regional Hospital for 21 years. Survivors are her husband Marvin Johnson; their sons Larry R (Brenda) Johnson of southwestern Shelby County, and Mark J Johnson of New Mexico; Grandsons Caleb (Jonna) Johnson of Rushville and Seth (Sophia) Johnson of southwestern Shelby County; Five great-granddaughters, Caysi, Cayla, Rachel, Ashley and Sarah. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are as follows: Friends are welcome to visit the family from 4-7 PM Thursday, August 6, 2020 in the Center Christian Church. Services will be private and burial will be in the Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests memorial gifts be made to Center Christian Church, 9112 N 50 W, Knightstown, IN 46148 or The American Cancer Society. Moster Mortuary, Rushville, entrusted with arrangements.
