    Robert E. St. John

    July 17, 1926 - January 7, 2020

Robert E. “Bob” St. John, 93, a long time Rush County resident, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at his home. He was born July 17, 1926 in Metamora, IN to James St. John and Laura (Halcomb) Curtsinger. Robert married Betty Cregar on May 10, 1948. Together they had seven children. She precedes him in death. Bob worked for Hoeing Farms in Rushville for several years, D&M Manufacturing in Connersville, and eventually retired from Ford Motor Company in 1994 after 24 years of employment. He was a Deacon and member of Faith Baptist Church in Rushville for many years. Bob never knew a stranger and had a smile for everyone. He came to know Jesus at 39 years old and lived a long, faithful life in Christ. Bob knew almost every hymn word for word and enjoyed singing gospel music with his wife and friends. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren; and watching IU basketball and Indianapolis Colts football. He was also a skilled carpenter, fix-it man, and innovative problem solver. He will be sadly missed. Bob is survived by his children: Wanda St. John of Rushville; Victoria Divan of St. Mary’s, GA; Elizabeth (Dave) Lay of Connersville; Russell (Lisa) St. John of Hebron, OH; Jeffrey (Jane) St. John of Manilla; Ricky (Acacia) St. John of Liberty; and Scott (Billie) St. John of Manilla; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brother Roland (Joannie) St. John of West Brookfield, MA; sister Myrtle Mcintyre of Paris, KY; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many of his wife’s family. Special thank you to Premier Hospice (especially his nurse Terry) and Synergy HomeCare. Also thank you to Kenny (Vanessa) Ketcham and the Glover family for watching out for Bob in the neighborhood. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Russell Curtsinger; wife Betty; grandson Stefan; brother David and sister's Grace, Marie, Martha Mae, Mary Lee, Maudie, Mona, and Omah. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, January 11, 2020 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Visitation will be the same day between 10AM and time of service. Pastor Theron St. John of Blue Ridge Christian Union Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Laurel North Cemetery in Laurel, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
