    Max Neil Miller

    October 30, 1933 - June 21, 2021

    Max Neil Miller, 87, a life long Rush County resident, passed away June 21, 2021 in Shelbyville. Max was born to Raymond E. & Zula (Kamper) Miller on October 30, 1933 in Rush County. He was a 1951 graduate of Manilla High School and served from 1954-1955 in the US Army. He married Marlene Kirk on November 11, 1954 and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2020. Max was a life long Rush County farmer. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, boating, spending time with his grandkids and caring for his animals. Max took great pride in learning about the Miller family genealogy. He and Marlene enjoyed traveling the world when they were younger. Max was a very social person and he loved to keep busy. He was an avid IU basketball fan and looked forward to Sunday services with his friends at the Manilla store. Max was a long time member of the Homer Christian Union Church and the Rushville American Legion, Eagles Lodge & the K of C. He is survived by his daughter; Denise (Kenny) Hoeing of Rushville, grandchildren; Chris (Ashley) Hoeing, Kim (Ben) Lawson, Carly (Brett) Holland, Clint & Andrew Miller and great grandchildren; Leah & Noah Lawson and Ezra & Avery Holland, former daughter-in-law; Delana Laker of Rushville, nieces; Phyllis (Fred) Palmer of Avon and Ellen (Smiley) Kirkus of New Palestine, several great nieces and nephews also survive. Max was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son; Darrell "Butch" Miller, grandson; Kyle Jordan Hoeing and brother; Paul Miller. Max requested graveside services. Service will be held at 1 PM Thursday, June 24, 2021 in Hurst Cemetery. Friends are welcome from Noon until time of service on Thursday. Rev. Dena Vittorio will preside. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hurst Cemetery Fund thru RCCF or to the Oliver Miller Homestead Associates-South Park Admin. Bldg, Buffalo Dr., South Park, PA. 15129. Moster Mortuary, Rushville, entrusted with arrangements.
