She had a way of making everyone feel like family. Margie was a city girl who married a farmer, she stated she loved every minute on the farm and planned to go out as a farm girl. Her kitchen table was more than a place to enjoy a great meal and wine. Her children, grandchildren and friends could all tell stories about the great conversations, card games and life lessons she taught around that table. She was a great cook and no one ever left hungry. She was especially known for her Italian food- lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs. She was particular about her ingredients and had a large garden for years. Later in life she enjoyed a trip to Kroger more than most. She enjoyed playing the piano and passing the time solving word search books. She loved playing cards, especially Euchre, and she did not like to lose. She took great joy in teaching her grandchildren to play cards and she took that same joy in being a tough opponent. She and Bob enjoyed playing cards in the club they called the “Church Bunch,” of which Margie was the last surviving member. Margie also played cards with a group of ladies monthly at the Elks. She was a founding member of the Noble Niters Homemaker’s Extension club in 1960 and continued to be a member for the next 62 years. She served as President of the local club for several terms and served as Rush County Extension Homemakers President. She received the Elle Award in 1992. She was an alto in the Rush County Homemakers Extension chorus. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church, first in Greensburg and then in Rushville. Margie prayed the Rosary daily. She was a Eucharistic minister and always helped in the dinner line for the Fall Festival. Alongside Bob, she also volunteered at the Knights of Columbus. She and Bob were very involved in the community. She helped Bob with everything from the Rush County Fair, Rush County Farm Bureau Inc. Board and Noble Boys 4-H club for many years and enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren grow up in the 4-H organization. Together they both took on roles in the state REMC. She served as president of the ladies auxiliary. Margie loved to travel and through their involvement with the REMC they had the opportunity to travel all over the country. She loved going on trips and never said no to a weekend getaway to go wine tasting. She enjoyed hearing about others' travels and was always ready to help you plan your next adventure. She lived her life to the fullest and planned accordingly- she even planned her funeral down to the last detail and we will carry out her wishes.
