    Harold Hilt

    November 10, 1929 - May 29, 2022

    Harold Hilt, 92, a lifetime Rush County area resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in Major Hospital, Shelbyville,with his loving family at his side. Harold was born in Rush County on November 10, 1929 to Noah Christopher & Mary Ellen (Talbert) Hilt. He was a 1947 graduate of Milroy High School and a US Marine Corp. veteran serving during the Korean War. He married his loving wife of 71 years, M. Jeanine Pearsey on March 27, 1951 in Jacksonville, NC. Upon returning to Rushville, Harold attended and graduated from Butler University in 1955 and went on to Law School at Indiana University, graduating with the class of 1958. Harold worked during the 1960's as Prosecuting Attorney in Ripley County, the 1970's with Ball Memorial Hospital and the 1980's for the State of Indiana. He and Jeanine enjoyed wintering in their RV during their retirement, traveling to Florida and out West. In addition to his wife Jeanine, of Rushville, he is survived by his sons; Gregory Alan Hilt of Rushville and Bruce (Barbara) Hilt of Zionsville, his daughters; Margaret (Gary) Liggett of Rushville and Jeanine (Joe) Juan of Summerville, SC, his loving grandchildren; Cheyenne Carmichael, Maggie Hilt (Andrew Hutchison), Daniel (Katie) Liggett, Kelli Liggett (Mark Kalmach), Mary Catherine "Catie" Liggett (Joey Waggoner), Jared Juan (Reid Hughes) and Jordan Juan, great grandkids, Daryen Hilt, Harper & Macy Liggett and Elaina & Nolan Juan and great -great granddaughter; Indica Hilt. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Mary Catherine "Cathy" Carmichael, daughter-in-law; Irene Hilt, brothers; Gilbert & Charles Hilt, sisters; Joyce Eliott and Imogene Runyon and grandson; Jeremy Hilt. There will be no public services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School or to the Rushville Animal Shelter. Moster Mortuary, entrusted with arrangements.
