Gerald H. Ploog Jr.

January 17, 1947 - February 11, 2022

Gerald H. Ploog Jr., 75 of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully Feb 11, 2022 with his 2 sons by his side. He was born on January 17, 1947 in Bettendorf, IA to Gerald Ploog, Sr. and Murial (Jacobs) Philabar. Gerald was a graduate of Bettendorf High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordinanceman as a Third Class Petty Officer in the Vietnam Campaign. Gerald enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and playing cards, watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Gerald is survived by his sister Charlene Arkfield, sons Gary Ploog and David Ploog his spouse Katherine Ploog, grandchildren Ryan Shipley, Meadow Ploog, Kinslee Ploog, Aaralyn Ploog and Gavin Ploog. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents. Honor of Life to be held at Moral Township Community Center from 2-5pm, March 5, 2022. (8333 N. Frontage Rd. Fairland, IN 46126) Service and Navy Honors to be at Rock Island National Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
