Douglas W. Lowes

Douglas W. Lowes, 78 of Rush County, passed away at his home on June 23, 2022 in Rush County. He was born on July 10, 1943 in Shelbyville to the late Melvin and Eula Faye (Toon) Lowes. Doug was a 1961 graduate of Triton Central High School. He married Joyce (Smith) Lowes on August 1, 1964 and she survives. Doug was active in the National Guard from 1962-1968. Doug was a farmer all his life in Rush County from 1968 to 2004. He has been working at Reynolds Farm Equipment since 2003. Doug was a member of Raleigh Christian Church. He took great pride in his church, being active as the Deacon, Elder and Sunday School Teacher. Doug enjoyed being a part of the 4-H Council and Pork Producers. In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is survived by his son, Jeffrey Alan (Ruth Ann) Lowes of Lapel, IN and daughter, Shari (Ruth Lu) Lowes of Columbus, OH; fur-baby (Doug’s favorite), Abby; brother, Robert (Maureen) Lowes of Pleasant View, IN and sister, Gail (Shirley) Spegal of Fairland, IN and 2 grandsons, Garrett and Chandler Lowes. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gene Lowes; sister-in-law, Rosalie Lowes and his grandson, Avery Scott Lowes. Services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 10 AM in Moster Mortuary, with Fred Hickman presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 2 PM-6PM in the mortuary. Burial will be held in Raleigh Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Donor’s Favorite Charity. Family requests the guests attending to dress casual.
