Sally Ann (Miller) Cull

Sally Ann (Miller) Cull passed away on October 8, 2022 at Miller’s Senior Living in Rushville, IN. She was born on December 15, 1933 to Susie (Morris) Lawson and Robert Gaines Lawson and later was adopted and raised by John and Faith Miller. Sally was a 1953 graduate of Bladensburg High School in Maryland. She met Loren Franklin Cull while he was serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. They were married January 3, 1955 in the First Baptist Church of Riverdale, Maryland. Sally became an active farm wife, always lending a hand, and prided herself in her book keeping abilities. She sought and accepted a job with the Rushville National Bank as a Teller. She retired after 41 years of service involving various duties and ended her career as the Manager of the Milroy Branch of People’s Trust Company, formerly Rushville National Bank. Sally was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rushville, serving in numerous ways, including Church Historian. From a young age, Sally dedicated her life to quietly helping others. She took immense pride in her job and serving her customers was a top priority! She also enjoyed remembering others with a special card or note and could never get enough photographs to print and share, no matter what the occasion. She cherished her time spent gardening and tending to her flowers. Often times, she occupied herself nurturing a stray or orphaned cat or kitten around the farm. She deeply loved family gatherings and delighted in having her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren around her as much as possible. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Loren; Daughters, Pamela (Kevin) Hoeing of Rushville, IN; Louise (Robert) Judge of Decatur, IN; and Son, Stephen (Melissa) Cull, of Rushville, IN.; Sister, Doris Austgen and Brothers; Robert “Sonny” (Betty) Poffenberger; Andrew Jackson “Jackie” Lawson; Norman (Phyllis) Crown. Grandchildren: Anne (Kyle) Tressler (IN), Joseph Hoeing (WA), Michael (Angela) Judge (OH), Daniel (Christine) Judge (LA), Benjamin (Alaina) Judge (IN), Clare Cull (IN), Cody Cull (IL), and Courtney (Alex) Hazelwood (IN). Great-Grandchildren: Logan, Zachary, and Sophie Tressler (IN), Ezra and Scarlett Judge (OH), Harper and Jackson Judge (LA), Ellis and Coen Judge (IN), and Paisley Lightner (IN). Sally also leaves behind her devoted Sons-in-law, a Daughter-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, (and their spouses and children), that meant the world to her along with her cherished orphaned cat, “Tootsie”. Sally is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Ronald E. “Ronnie” Austgen and nephews, Edward R. “Ed” Austgen, and Robert Carl “Joe” Poffenberger, Jr. Our most grateful thanks to those at Miller’s and Southeastern Indiana Hospice who loved and cared for Sally, and are continuing to care for her husband, Loren. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 1pm at Moster Mortuary in Rushville, IN with Pastor John Wall officiating. Friends are welcome to visit from 11am until the time of service. Burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery in Rush County.
